QSB Alumni gather for Alumni Weekend 2000

September 25, 2000

2000-09-25 - It was a day for reminiscing with old friends as Alumni from as far away as the Barbados gathered for the School’s annual Alumni Weekend Brunch, held September 23. The brunch brought together Alumni from 1949 to 2000, and from the School’s many programs.

The highlight of the morning was a talk by Fred Jaques, BCom’80 and President of Labatt Brewing Co., who spoke of his vision for Labatt and the challenges facing him in his new role.

Jaques and his classmates marked the 20th anniversary of their graduation by presenting School of Business Dean Margot Northey with a $400,000 contribution to the School’s building fund. Jaques and fellow Alumni Sharon Ransom, Ian MacVicar, and Peter VanSickle spearheaded BCom’80’s aggressive fundraising campaign. A classroom in Goodes Hall – the School’s new home – will be dedicated to BCom’80 in recognition of their gift.

Be sure to mark your calendars now for next year’s Queen’s School of Business Alumni Weekend Brunch – being held September 22, 2001.
