New Site
June 08, 1999
1999-06-08 - Queen's University is allocating one of its own buildings, the old Victoria School located at the corner of Alfred and Union streets, as the new site for Queen's School of Business.
Principal William Leggett officially informed the City of Kingston that Queen's will no longer be considering the Frontenac County Court House as a potential site for the business school and will be proceeding with another option. This decision was made after the University's deadline of its Expression of Interest to the City expired June 1.
George Hood, Queen's VP Advancement, says he is excited about the potential of the Victoria School site to accommodate the growing needs of Queen's School of Business, already nationally and internationally recognized for its innovative programming and teaching.
"Although we are disappointed at being unable to pursue the opportunities presented by the Frontenac County Court House, we look forward to developing this attractive, historic site, which gives Queen's School of Business the room to expand and respond to the increasing demand from students and the business community for quality business programs," says Hood.
Margot Northey, dean of the business school, says "we are delighted with the opportunity to transform the old Victoria School into the new home of Queen's School of Business. Bringing all of our students, faculty and staff under one roof will help us build on the School's leadership in delivering cutting-edge business programs of the highest quality in Canada."
