HEALTH INSURANCE (UHIP)
Queen’s University participates with other Ontario universities in a province-wide insurance plan called the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). UHIP provides basic healthcare insurance for hospital and medical services that you may need while in Ontario.
UHIP is mandatory for all international members of the Queen’s Community who are not eligible for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), including:
- International students
- International employees
- Postdoctoral fellows
- Visiting scholars and staff
- Any dependents
We encourage you to look closely at costs, coverage and the enrollment policy for UHIP which is administered by the Queen's University International Centre (QUIC). You may also consider additional supplemental coverage through the student governments or Human Resources at Queen's University.
