Terms of Reference
Introduction
The passion and intellect of our faculty have enabled Queen's School of Business to become Canada’s premier business school and one of the best in the world. The QSB Faculty Hall of Fame will recognize the School’s most outstanding faculty whose lasting contributions in teaching, research and/or service have brought distinction and honour to the School. Inductees will be a source of inspiration to faculty, staff, students and alumni.
Inductees to the QSB Faculty Hall of Fame will have been deeply committed to achieving the School’s mission and vision:
- Mission – We develop outstanding leaders with a global perspective, and create new knowledge that advances business and society.
- Vision – To be one of the world's most innovative and influential business schools.
Eligibility and Nominations
- Queen's School of Business faculty members who have not been working at QSB for at least two years are eligible for nomination. This includes faculty who have retired, resigned or passed away.
- “Faculty” is inclusive of any rank
- “Retired” indicates official retirement from Queen's University (applies to tenured faculty and continuing adjuncts) or former term adjuncts who have not held a contract with QSB for two years or more.
- Nominations can be made by any member of the QSB community: alumnus, donor, friend, faculty or staff.
- “Call for Nominations” – the Call for Nominations will be communicated widely to the QSB community in a variety of ways: by email, notices in QSB Magazine (alumni magazine), QSB website, Alumni Central website, at alumni events, etc.

Selection Criteria
- Inductees will have made an extraordinary contribution to advance the mission and vision of QSB – in teaching, research, and/or service
- An inductee’s contribution must be so significant that it outlives their career at QSB
- Nominees will have conducted themselves in a manner consistent with high ethical standards.
Categories
- Nominees will be divided into two categories: Founding Leaders (1919 – 1966) and Contemporary Leaders (from 1967 onward).
Governance
- Nominations will be invited approximately every three years starting in 2009, for four cycles (i.e. 2009, 2012, 2015, 2019); then every five years (2024, 2029, etc). This is to recognize there may be a large number of nominations at the beginning, but ongoing there will be a smaller pool of new eligible recipients.
- A new Selection Committee will be formed for each year the inductions are to be made.
- Members of the Selection Committee will broadly represent QSB stakeholder communities:
- QSB Dean as Chair of the Selection Committee
- Chair of QSB Advisory Board
- VP‐Academic (or designate)
- Principal (or designate)
- QSB “Visionary” Donors (donors to QSB of $5 million or more. For 2009 inductions, Committee members are Mel Goodes, BCom’57, LLD’94 and Donald Sobey, BCom’57)
- Alumni and students representatives (weighted to size of program) – Commerce, MBA, EMBA, graduate programs
- Current senior faculty member
- Current staff member
